I’m Jess Harrison,
I have been living and working in Chudleigh for the past two years, working for
the Teign Valley Youth Project. These next two years hold a new adventure;
working alongside the Churches here in Chudleigh.
Over the past two
years God has placed a real heart and love in me for Chudleigh. I have a desire
to see God reign here, a real passion to see young people rise up and have
confidence in sharing the Good News of our Lord. I have a passion to see our
Churches living out in community, living out in faith with courage from the Holy
Spirit.
I have been
challenged, pushed and pulled these last two years, and from it I have grown
stronger and more passionate. I don’t doubt that God has more challenges
ready for me in this next adventure.
Throughout this
year I would love and value your prayer support! Please pray that I am totally
reliant on God, may I seek His guidance, wisdom and knowledge on how to carry
out this privileged work He has given me.
My desire is to
play a part in the role God has given me in order to see His Kingdom come!
‘Energizeis a brilliant club – there are a lot of games
played, like traffic lights and sleeping lions. We have a memory verse from the
Bible, and a biscuit and a drink. The leaders are all very kind and helpful, and
it is lots of fun. I really miss it when I can’t go.’

“It was lovely … It was lovely … It was lovely”.
Some
parents were at a loss for words when they were asked for their views on the
Starship Discovery Holiday Club.
Over 80 children went back to Chudleigh Primary School during
February half term for a holiday club run by Christians Together in Chudleigh.
The school hall was transformed into a spaceship flight deck and
each day the children accompanied Lieutenant Docket (Carole Grose) and Cadet
Sprocket (Linda Palmer) into Outer Space. They sang and danced along with
“Colin and the Comets” and learned about the life of Jesus’ disciple Peter (a
thinly disguised Mark Gale). Other regular features included the exploits of
the Watt Family plus a variety of craft activities on the “space” theme. Daily
visits from Captain Ketchup helped the children catch up on the story so far.
A
large team of enthusiastic teenage and adult helpers ensured everything ran
smoothly and safely over the three mornings of the club.
On
Thursday evening parents and families were given a taste of the Starship
Discovery adventure at a presentation during which the Vicar paid tribute to the
core planning team of Carole, Linda, Ruth and Nick Tuckett and Yasmin Lowrie.
“They have worked tremendously hard for many months to give everyone a memorable
experience,” he said.

enjoyed by all who took part, helpers as well as ‘space cadets’!
