Alpha In Chudleigh

... for anyone with questions about the Christian faith.

What is ALPHA?

More than 4 million people all over the world have completed the ALPHA course over the last ten years in churches, homes, schools, universities and prisons.

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away. It is for anyone with questions about the Christian faith; whether they are non-Christians, 'waverers', or committed church attenders.

It is low-key, friendly and fun - and is supported by all the main Christian denominations. Here in our benefice of Chudleigh, Chudleigh Knighton, and Trusham, we have run a number of courses over the last few years; some in church, some in homes, and our last one in a pub. We are not sure when we will be running our next course, but if you are interested in ALPHA please contact the Vicar or one of our team. If we are not running one we should be able to put you in touch with one nearby;

In Brief:

Anyone interested in finding out more about Christianity is welcome.
Learning and Laughter. It is possible to learn about Christianity and have a    lot of fun at the same time.
Pasta & Pudding. Eating a meal together gives an opportunity to get to know each other.
Helping one another in small discussion groups gives a chance to discuss issues raised in the talks.
Ask anything. No question is regarded as too simple or too hostile.

Pastoral Visiting

The scheme provides visitors for parishioners in need, or to welcome newcomers. We can take referrals and arrange the visits. Training is given, and we have some visitors trained to undertake bereavement visiting. Referrals are steady at about 1 or 2 a month; generally parishioners swing into action and then tell us afterwards – which is as it should be.
